Silent Sky tells the true story of Henrietta Leavitt, a female astronomer who worked at the Harvard Observatory in the early 1900s. She was part of a group of women whose jobs were to work as “computers” for the male scientists. Despite the fact that she was not allowed to engage in her own original research or even touch a telescope, Henrietta went on to make groundbreaking discoveries that expanded our understanding of the universe. Silent Sky will be presented as part of the “Women in the Sciences” series at The College of Wooster.
